Description
One of our favorite upright Junipers, Iowa is an attractive evergreen conifer that grows naturally in a conical form with no pruning necessary. As conifers go, it is considered fast growing with attractive blue-sage green foliage that leans heavily to the blue! With no pruning Iowa presents a unique and noticeable growth habit with its outer branchlets leaning slightly away from the main form. Combine this wonderful feature with the blue foliage and Iowa is one handsome guy!
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing to about 10 to 12 feet tall by 4 to 5 feet wide at maturity, with dense foliage you can’t see through, the Iowa Juniper is idea for use as a specimen, in groupings, or for a dense privacy hedge or screen in sunny landscape borders. Also a very nice as a corner plant or espalier in home foundation plantings. It shears well so makes for the perfect outdoor Christmas tree! A fine addition to the conifer garden, rock garden and Xeriscape (low water needs).
Suggested Spacing:Â Â 4 feet apart for solid hedges and privacy screens;Â 8 feet or more apart for space between plants
Growing Preferences

Bought 2 of these last summer and have them in barrels and going to plant them in the ground this spring. They got a tiny bit of burn on top tips during wind and ice storm, but they are doing great now in march. They are 40 inches tall now and are beautiful! I can see why these are one of Wilson Bros. favorites. Thank You!——————————————————————————————–We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come! Plant shipped quickly. This Juniper’s top was bent down in the box. So, when we planted it we tied the top to the fence to encourage it to be straight. So far so good. It looks great! We love the look of this Juniper. We have purchased a few shrubs from Wilson Bros. and our property is looking good. We are looking forward to enjoying the growth of our shrubs. —————————— WBG Reply: Hi Ms. McGrath – Thanks so much for your review of the Iowa Juniper and for your compliments.
